Code of conduct
These are the rules for players, parents and coaches at English FC Berlin.
At EFCB, we believe that youth sports are about more than just winning. Our primary goals are development, enjoyment, and fostering a lifelong love for football. We strive to create a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for every player.
This code of conduct applies to all players, parents/guardians, and coaches. By joining our team, we agree to abide by these principles.
For Players: Be a Good Teammate & Sport
- Effort & Attitude: I will always try my best, in both games and training, with a positive attitude. I understand that mistakes are part of learning.
- Respect: I will show respect at all times:
- To my Teammates: I will encourage them, never criticize them for a mistake, and include everyone.
- To my Coaches: I will listen, follow instructions, and thank them after each session.
- To the Opponents: I will play hard but fair. I will shake their hands before and after the game.
- To Facilities: I will help set up and put away equipment and will not leave any trash behind.
- Commitment: I will arrive on time for training and games and will inform my coach if I cannot attend.
- Bullying, teasing, or offensive remarks will not be tolerated.
- Safety & Health: I will bring my shin guards and water bottle to every session. I will play fairly and avoid dangerous play.
Player's Pledge: "I agree to follow this code of conduct and to represent English FC Berlin with pride, fairness, and good sportsmanship."
For Parents & Guardians: Be a Positive Supporter
- Positive Encouragement: I will be a positive role model on the sidelines. I will cheer for good play by both teams and encourage effort, not just results.
- Respect: I will never yell at or criticize the referees, coaches, opposing team, or other parents. I understand that negative behavior may result in my being asked to leave the vicinity of the field.
- Let the Coaches Coach: I will not give my child tactical instructions from the sidelines. This contradicts the coach's guidance and confuses the players.
- Communication: I will communicate directly with the coach about any concerns (scheduling, playing time, etc.), but never immediately before or after a game. I will choose an appropriate time, like via email or a scheduled call.
- Commitment: I will ensure my child arrives on time and is picked up promptly. I will support my child's commitment to the team.
Parent's Pledge: "I agree to support my child, the team, and the coaches in a positive and respectful manner."
For Coaches: Lead by Example
- Development Focus: I will prioritize player development and enjoyment over winning at all costs. Every player will receive respectful attention and opportunities to play when they are deemed 'ready' by the trainer.
- Positive Environment: I will create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where players are not afraid to make mistakes.
- Respect: I will lead by example in respecting players, parents, opponents, and officials. I will communicate decisions (like playing time) clearly and fairly.
- Safety: I will ensure a safe training environment and have a basic first aid kit available.
Our Berlin Spirit
We are proud to be part of the diverse and passionate football community in Berlin. We represent our club and our city with class, respect, and a true love for the game.
Violations of this code of conduct may result in a discussion with the coaching staff and, if serious or repeated, in temporary or permanent suspension from team activities.
Let's have a great season!
